About Smoo

The design of "Smoo" family is based on "Pixe" which is simulating bit-mapped typeface. I began to draw this typeface for the renewal of my web site in 1998. The complement for Alphabet had been completed, but complements for Katakana and Hiragana was not completed in 1997 (Instead of these Japanese complement, I have used "Trafica KK Titlling" for new web pages). I restarted to draw these fonts from June, 1998. In August, the basic characters have been completed. The design is, aiming like a bit-mapped typeface with the smoothing effect (adding smoother supplements between pixels) which has both images of digital and analog.

"Smoo" family was available on "Font Pavilion #12" (includes 57 fonts) from Digitalogue.

Smoo is designed by Yamaoka Yasuhiro 1997-1998.
