Journalizing daily audio metamorphosis – Alchemy Journal
Originally, the concept for "Alchemy Journal" was brought from my very old ideas around 1981. I used to use two (sometimes three) compact cassette tape recorders for transferring/overdubbing sound from tape to tape, this always distorted the original sound on the tape. Once, I had tried recording of these distorted sound transitions serially, but its result was not so interesting. Later, instead of this idea, I layered each distorted recording. Late 1995, I began to use soundwave editor software; "Alchemy", and I was very interested in the generated transitional sounds from the single audio file while doing try & error with this software. I stored these sound files in transition, then played them back serially. And I thought it might be interesting to represent each transition as a daily work. Yes, the title "Alchemy Journal" is taken after the name of the software, even though I cannot alchemize any sounds with that outdated software anymore. I had tried this idea several times, but it had never been really realized. And again, I am trying to realize this, and do not know how long I could keep trying. The source of "Alchemy Journal" is 1 minute simple single sound: white noise.
